English Folk Dance & Song Society (EFDSS)

We are the folk arts development organisation for England based at our home arts centre, Cecil Sharp House in Camden. We champion the folk arts at the heart of England’s rich and diverse cultural landscape.

Our Learning Offer

We work in mainstream and special schools, in Camden and in projects nationally. We run the Folk Education Network and CPD for educators. We run London Youth Folk Ensemble and the National Youth Folk Ensemble, and our Inclusive Folk programme for learning disabled young people. Our award-winning online Resource Bank provides numerous learning resources supporting folk music, dance and other arts in the classroom across all key stages. We are an Arts Award Centre and Artsmark partner.

Example Project

We are currently working in partnership with various SEND schools and learning settings in the borough and neighbouring boroughs on our Inclusive Folk project which is funded by John Lyon's Charity. We use folk music and dance to provide creative learning projects which are co-created with teachers to enhance creative arts learning in schools.
